On the PFD will be an automatic lateral guidance if the runway has ILS. Note that during the takeoff roll you'res supposed to push the stick 1/2 way forward up to 80kts (to hold the nose down?), then return the stick to neutral. At accel height I switched on Autopilot, moved thrust to CLB (you get an indication on the FMA), and retracted flaps. Did the usual roll to Vr, positive climb, gear up and pitch using the FD. I did the before takeoff checklist, lined up and used the Flex takeoff thrust (second throttle detent) to get going. Supposedly you can do this with a right-click on the spoilers, then after takeoff disarm by pressing '/'. You're supposed to Arm ground spoilers before takeoff, so they can help slow the plane for an RTO. I was able to taxi with engines idle and no breakaway thrust (see my earlier post on using DynamicFriction mod). The advantage of GSX is it does a very good job of pushing the plane onto the taxi lines. I chose Start, which worked just fine with GSX. On the right MCDU you can choose between Pushback and Start or just Start.

I forgot to re-run the "make runways" utility needed by RAAS, so at EDDF I had the wrong runway announcements. I also noticed FPS stutters even though it's good most of the time. I skip that part of the checklist if I can. I even tried hitting 'b' but she insists baro is wrong. The co-pilot gets confused about baro settings. I'm still pursuing this in the Aerosoft forums. This means I'm limited to fairly short hops. I have never been able to save and then resume a flight. Must just be me because I see so many positive comments about it. I've tried doing all the flows myself, flying with ATC and traffic and doing more hand-flying, but it's just not that much fun in the sim. I don't think this is Aerosoft's fault, I think it's just that doing normal procedures in an Airbus is just really not that interesting. The AAX is a nice package overall with excellent graphics and sound, and it's interesting to learn about Airbus systems, but I'm also put off with some things: I've done several flights with the Aerosoft bus and am ready to try a different plane.
